DIY Motion Control Rig - Design Concepts

I'm currently in collaboration with a couple of chaps from Ohio of all places! I put together this video to explain the origins of my plans to build my own Motion Control Rig. I thought some of you might be interested also as it explains some of the core design concepts in regards to the rig's 6 degrees of freedom.

Hey Dan,

I got a copy of Maya to try your code out in its entirety. I had modified version of your code partly working last night but think I shorted out my stepper driver. I'm heading to my Dad's place this evening to try and troubleshoot.

Oh no! Hope your hardware can be resurrected. I'm in the process of putting up some new code on svn. One thing I discovered today is that all of this stuff only works on 32-bit versions of everything at the moment. The python modules I am using do not support 64-bit yet :(

Like the video! Keep up the good work!

I have been working a bit on the Java side of things but I dont have anything to show yet. It takes a while to figure these things out for me since I am completely new to all this electronic realworld stuff!

Yeah I can totally relate :) Sometimes I prefer to slip back into the comfortable world of 3D. No boundaries, no physics, no worries!
